  About Sol Yoga
Our Mission:
At Sol Yoga, our mission is to infuse and inspire health, wellness and wholeness into daily life through the practice of yoga. In our light-filled studio, students escape the stresses of life and rejuvenate their energies. We are committed to serving the community and encouraging people to care for themselves and others.

Our Philosophy:
“Yoga has its roots in Indian thought, but its content is universal because
it is about the means by which we can make the changes we desire in our
lives.”
T.K.V Desikachar

Uncover, discover, tap into your power and just be. Most of us live in our heads, busy as can be, never stopping to take a few long breaths or stretch out our aching back and shoulders. Yoga is what you make it. It can be your hour of peace in a hectic week, a workout, therapy for an ailing joint, or it can transform your life if you let it. At Sol Yoga, our excellent, trained teachers will support you on your journey, whatever it may be.

We practice a variety of styles of Hatha yoga and invite you to join us anytime with an open mind, eager spirit and sense of humor.

“We begin where we are and how we are and whatever happens, happens.” T.K.V. Desikachar

Our Name
Sol: (Spanish for sun) Sun: A star that sustains life on Earth, being the source of heat and light; radiant energy.

Yoga: union, to yoke, to join, to attain what was previously unattainable.

Sol Yoga was born in Isla Mujeres, Mexico – In a moment of inspiration, on an idyllic beach, in all the glory of the universal sun. Without the sun, we cannot exist. It gives us life, warmth, vitality and makes up smile. Without moments of peace, we cannot feel inspired. Without warmth in our hearts and vitality in our body, we cannot grow. At Sol Yoga we hope to brighten your day, lighten your soul and energize your body.

Marge Ely, RYT, came to yoga like many of us do—seeking balance and relaxation from her career as a professional photographer. Studying Power & Iyengar Yoga in her former home of Dallas, Texas, Marge fell in love with the practice. When she moved to New Market, she wanted to take her yoga to the next level. With the support of her loving family, she snuck away for a month long teacher training intensive at Frog Lotus Yoga in N. Adams, MA. Now a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200). Some of your have experienced her sneaky style! She’s sooooo relaxing and calming, that you won’t realize the workout you’ve gotten until you are on your way home! Meet Marge on Friday nights in New Market and get your weekend started calm. Check out her work at www.margeely.com

Kimberly Kuhn started practicing yoga in the early 90's while living in Los Angeles, CA.  Over the years she has practiced a variety of styles of yoga and found that vinyasa flow speaks to her mind, body, and spirit and has deeply influenced her life on and off the mat. Kim has studied with great teachers including Angela Farmer, Saul David Raye, Eric Schiffmann, Desiree Raumbaugh, and Sean Corne and is presently in the process of completing her Prana Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher training with Shiva Rea. Off the mat Kim is a clinical social worker in private practice providing psychotherapy for adolescents and adults in Winchester, VA and Frederick, MD. She has found that yoga has influenced her work and her work in life influences her teaching!  As a result, Kim teaches beautifully fluid, smooth classes full of breath work and appropriate challenges. She seamlessly integrates mind, body and spirit, creating an opportunity for self-discovery & growth in her students.

Lane Bruchey, RYT, has been a dedicated yogini for over eight years, training in various styles such as Kripalu, Bikram, Ananda, Anusara, and Vinyasa Yoga. She completed her 200-hour teaching certification in Kripalu Yoga in March 2007 and is thrilled to be sharing her passion. For Lane, the yoga mat is a space for joyful self-inquiry and expression, an opportunity to go deep into the body and discover its secrets. She hopes her gentle classes provide a sacred space for her students to find a home inside themselves. Lane also takes her yoga off the mat and into the traditional classroom, where she has been teaching ESL around the globe for over six years.

Erin Sprague Accidentally and serendipitously, Erin stumbled upon yoga at a time in her life when she was literally and figuratively running all over the place. “I found yoga at a moment in my life when I needed a tool to be calm in my own body, life and mind. My first yoga class I felt like I had been introduced to the real journey that needed to go on inside of me. It felt like the perfect integration of spirituality and physical release.”

Many years since that moment, Erin has practiced with many local and international teachers and has embarked on a teaching path that allows her to share her passion with others.  Erin loves connecting with people and community and will have you sweating, laughing and loving your yoga experience right from the beginning. “If I had a hope of something that people would take away from yoga it would be self-acceptance - accepting where they are in their yoga practice, in their lives, in their bodies, etc.”
